Read an excerpt from “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” - discuss this fictitious diary and how the author Jeff Kinney is different from the character Greg Heffley.
Character sketch of the main character and or Ms. Fred (not how they look, what they might think and feel).
Who are they? What do they look like? What do they like/dislike? Why they’re building “the bike that is a car”? What are their points of view?
Draw/sketch how each character might look.

Students will create a diary entry from one of the character’s points of view about building “the bike that is a car”. Their diary entry should show a clear point of view from the character whose perspective they are writing from.
Junior/intermediate classes may consider doing a double entry diary, where the page is split into two long columns and the student writes an entry for each character’s point of view (like a T chart).
